Abstract

1375396 Injection moulding M J RAGIR 29 Oct 1971 [30 Nov 1970] 50453/71 Heading B5A In a method of making an injection moulded article, e.g. as shown in Fig. 11, having a backing member 70 of fibrous material such as wood, a portion of the fibrous material is severed from a supply thereof and then advanced to position it adjacent one side of a mould cavity 24, and moulding material injected to fill the cavity and bond with the backing member. The article may be a support device 60 (Fig. 11) provided with two or more backing members 70 which may be coated with a water soluble glue either before or after the moulding process for subsequent attachment to a wall or door. The backing members 70 are punched from a strip 50 of material by punches 34 co-operating with dies 36. The mould comprises male and female portions 20, 22, respectively, the male portion having projections 40 to form a plurality of support devices during a single moulding cycle. The strip 50 of backing material is located by means of slots 48 and held in place by leafsprings (52) or the like (Fig. 10, not shown). A roll of fibrous material may be used in place of strips 50.
