Abstract
1,119,907. Shuttleless looms; selvedges. DRAPER CORP. 24 Jan., 1967 [17 March, 1966], No. 3474/67. Heading D1E. As a weft inserter leaves the shed a camoperated suction tube Fig. 5, moves rearwardly to engage the weft end and then moves forwardly to bring the weft into contact with a second cam-operated pivoted suction tube 67. After beat-up and shed change the second tube 67 enters the shed to tuck-in the end and shears 75 penetrate the upper warp sheet to sever the end to a specific length. As the tube 67 leaves the shed it sucks away the cut end, and the first tube 49, which has moved rearwardly, places the next weft over the tucked in end and tube 67 ready for the next beat up. Weft cutter: The weft end cutter, Fig. 6, comprises a blade fixed to a cam-operated pivotal lever 72, and a second blade 81, with a tag 89 slidable on and pressed to the first blade by a spring loaded plate 85. As the cutter is pivoted it penetrates the upper warp sheet and the tag 89 engages an abutment and stops whilst the first blade continues moving and the end is severed in a gap 90 between the blades.
