Abstract

The leno selvedge shedding mechanism of Specification 1,055,081 has a weft clamp and cutting mechanism that holds the cut weft ends during weaving. As the wefts WT are laid they are cut by cutters 246 (Fig. 23, not shown). A sley operated pivoted rod 242 (Fig. 24, not shown) with a forked end 269 then pivots to push the cut weft end WT between the serrated jaws 240, 241 of a weft clamp 235. The jaw opening is progressively larger to the front of the loom so that the weft ends are successively released. A second embodiment of clamp is described (Figs. 28, 29, not shown).
