Abstract

1344833 Cutting weft FOTHERGILL & HARVEY Ltd 20 May 1971 [26 May 1970] 25140/70 Heading DIE A weft cutter comprises a rotating abrasive disc 1 driven by a motor 2 mounted on the loom frame. On one side, of the loom, weft which has just been inserted by a jet 5 is pushed by two serrated plates 6 on the sley 7 over the edge of the disc 1. On the other side of the loom the disc (8) Fig. 2 (not shown) is mounted forwardly of the fell and the weft ends (4) are held by three selvedge threads (12) which are twisted around them, and guided by plates (13) until they are severed by the disc.
