Abstract

1,119,591. Seals. HYMATIC ENG. CO. Ltd. 14 March, 1967 [16 March, 1966], No. 11433/66. Heading F2B. In a cryogenic apparatus in which a shaft or piston 10 operates in a housing 20, 21, a resilient seal 25 has a portion 29 engaging the shaft or piston and a portion 26 surrounding a tubular boss 24 in the housing. The seal may be made of P.T.F.E. loaded with 25% carbon and the shaft or piston 10 of P.T.F.E. loaded with 33% carbon, the housing being made of stainless steel. Other materials which may be employed include polytrifluorochloroethylene for the seal and stainless steel for the shaft or piston.
