Abstract

Compounds of the formula <FORM:1117017/C3/1> where A completes a benzene or naphthalene ring which may contain non-water-solubilizing substituents, R1 and R2 are H or non-water-solubilizin substituents and Me is Zn, Mn, Ni or Cd are incorporated in macromolecular substances and used in printing inks based on nitrocellulose. Examples describe the incorporation of pigment in polyvinyl chloride and polystyrene and the preparation of a printing ink by grinding the pigment with a mixture of nitrocellulose, dibutyl phthalate, ethyl alcohol and ethylene glycol.ALSO:The invention comprises compounds of the formulae <FORM:1117017/C4-C5/1> <FORM:1117017/C4-C5/2> where A completes a benzene or naphthalene ring which may contain non-water-solubilizing substituents, R1 and R2 are H or non-water-solubilizin substituents and Me is Zn, Mn, Ni or Cd. The compounds are prepared by reacting together compounds of the formulae <FORM:1117017/C4-C5/3> <FORM:1117017/C4-C5/4> to give the azamethine compound which may then be metallized by an agent which supplies Zn, Mn, Ni or Cd. The compounds may be used in the production of printing ink. Example 7 describes the preparation of printing inks by grinding the pigment with linseed oil varnish.
