Abstract

1,180,420. Acetoacetanilide dyes. BADISCHE ANILIN- & SODA-FABRIK A.G. 13 June, 1967 [14 June, 1966], No. 27230/67. Heading C4P. The invention comprises dyes of the general formula which are free from sulphonic acid groups and phenolic hydroxyl groups and wherein Ar and Ar<SP>1</SP> are optionally substituted aromatic radicals, R is H or an optionally substituted aliphatic, cycloaliphatic or araliphatic radical and n is 1 or 2. They are prepared by reacting a compound of the formula or more preferably of the formula wherein Ar and Ar<SP>1</SP> are as above, X and Y are H, Cl, Br, or NO 2 and R<SP>1</SP> and R<SP>2</SP> are H, Cl, CH 3 , C 2 H 5 , OCH 3 or OCH 5 with an amine RNH 2 , where R is as above, e.g. alkyl or alkylene, at 20‹ to 160‹ C. in an organic solvent, e.g. alcohols, aromatic and chlorinated hydrocarbons and formamide or mixtures thereof. Water formed is preferably azeotropically distilled off. The green-yellow products dye polyamides, polyesters, printing inks. paints and plastics.
