Abstract

The invention comprises pigment dyes of the formula <FORM:1112890/C4-C5/1> wherein R1 is H, R2 is H, Cl or CH3, or R1 and R2 together complete a naphthalene ring, R3 is H, Cl or CH3, A is Ca or Ba, B is Mg, Ni, Co, Fe, Al or Cr, x is from 70 to 99.5, y is from 0.5 to 30, x + y is 100 and n is the valency of cation of B. They may be obtained by reacting an azo dye of the formula <FORM:1112890/C4-C5/2> in an aqueous medium at temperatures up to 100 DEG C. with Ca or Ba salts and with Mg, Ni, Co, Fe, Al or Cr salts, the ratio of Ca or Ba salt or Mg, Ni, Co, Fe, Al or Cr being from 99.5 : 0.5 to 70 : 30 based on equivalent weights. Examples are given for the production of the lakes.
