Abstract

1,164,329. Metallized disazo dyes. BADISCHE ANILIN- & SODA-FABRIK A.G. 27 Jan., 1967 [29 Jan., 1966], No. 4129/67. Heading C4P. The invention comprises disazo metal complex dyes having a complex forming ligand of the general formula wherein n is 1 to 4; A and B are aromatic-isocyclic or aromatic-heterocyclic radicals, each containing an OH group ortho to the azo group; and R is a carboxylic acid, carboxylic acid amide, cyano, aryl, or alkyl group having 1 to 8 carbon atoms. The metal atom has an atomic number of 24 to 30, e.g. chromium or cobalt, and mixed metal complexes may be formed with azomethine dyes and azc dyes not corresponding to the above formula. The complex metal dyes are prepared by reacting one or more dyes of the above formula, optionally in admixture with another metallizable azo or azomethine dye with a metal donor or by reacting a 1:1 metal complex dye of a dye of the above formula with a similar dye, or another azo or azomethine dye. The preparation of the abovementioned disazo dyes is described. The metal complex dyes are water-soluble and may be used to dye or print wool, cotton or rayon in grey, violet, brown and green shades.
