In a radial cylinder pump or motor each cylinder has a separate distributing piston valve and the valves or the valve actuating rods are radially arranged and actuated by an eccentric. The valves 8 or actuating rods have forked ends between the prongs of which a cam engaging roller 21 is mounted and the rollers are surrounded by a retaining ring 18.
