1,116,124. Printing and applying labels. SEBO PRODUCTS (INTERNATIONAL) Ltd. 22 Feb., 1967 [27 Jan., 1966], No. 3767/66. Heading B8F. In a hand-held apparatus for printing and applying labels, at each stroke of a handoperated plunger 20 a carrier strip is fed over an edge 17 to detach a printed label, a plunger 26 applies the detached label to an article, and a printing stamp 24 prints a further label. In the form illustrated the applying plunger 26 acts on the label through a leaf spring 40 to apply the label through a window 37. A brake 35 stops the strip feed, which is by a one-way clutch, when a finger 34 detects a thickened edge (see Specification 1,084,193) on a label; the carrier strip stretches to accommodate any remaining feed motion, and an adjustable connection 17<SP>1</SP> permits the feed stroke to be altered. An adjustable portion 43 of a guide 14 for the carrier strip permits registration of the labels with the type bands 24 of the printing stamp.
