1,115,882. Sawing. C.A.V. Ltd. 23 Dec., 1965 [1 Oct., 1964], No. 39944/64. Heading B5L. A bar stock cutting-machine comprises a pair of opposed jaws 12 between which a bar can be gripped and which are mounted adjacent to a band saw 11, one of the jaws being secured to a part 10 of the machine and the other of the pair of jaws being mounted at the free end of a pivotal arm 13, and means for exerting a force on the arm intermediate the pivot point and the jaw whereby bar stock is gripped between the jaws. A strap 14 attached to the part 10 carries the pivot for the arm. A second pair of jaws 15 are mounted adjacent the first pair, one of the second pair of jaws being mounted on the part 10 and the other on an arm 16 which is pivotally mounted on a strap 17 on the part 10. Both arms 13, 16 are adapted to have a force applied between the pivots and the jaws for gripping the bar stock. The first pair of jaws 12 are formed with extensions 19, 20 which extend beyond the saw, one of the extensions having a spring-loaded plunger 18 for gripping the severed length of bar. The upper jaw 12 is provided with a stop 23 to reduce the risk of tilting of the bar stock.
