Abstract
1,115,659. Floor polishing machines. ELECTROLUX Ltd. 22 Nov., 1965, No. 49495/65. Heading A4F [Also in Division H1] A floor polisher comprises a belt pulley 11 (Fig. 1) supported by ball bearings 13 on a shaft 14, dependent from frame 10, and a screwed bearing cover 15 supports a permanent magnet 16 of hemispherical shape having a diametrical recess 17 which may contain a non magnetic e.g. plastic sleeve 26. The magnet co-operates with a hemispherically cupped armature 18 of soft sheet iron extending through the centre of a polishing brush 12 into a downwardly extending cone 20 serving as a finger grip and as a guide receiving a coned ferrule of an overlying polishing or grinding disc (not shown) which may be centrally cupped to engage the magnet surface. A protruding pin or rivet is snapped into the non magnetic sleeve. Drive is transmitted from the pulley to the brush by gravity or spring biased axially slidable pins 29 having heads 31 engaging stops 30 of the brush. Plural magnets may be used; diametrically opposed, peripherally spaced, or disposed centrally. The magnet member may be concave, and the magnet and armature may be transposed.
