Abstract

To produce an accurately balanced-torque stretch yarn two undrawn thermoplastic yarns are in a continuous process uniformly drawn, uniformly but oppositely false twisted, heat set while twisted, and combined together - for example for means of a plying twist. The yarns are false-twisted by peripheral contact with two sets of rotating interleaved discs, the shafts of one set of discs being rotated in the opposite direction to the direction of rotation of other set but by the same belt drive. The yarns may be made from a polyamide, polypropylene, polyurethane, vinyl acetate, vinyl chloride, acrylonitrile, or polyester.
