Abstract

1,115,066. Image pick-up tubes. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. 3 June, 1965 [12 June, 1964], No. 23788/65. Heading H1D. A charge storage target and grid assembly 22 in an image orthicon is supported from the cup-shaped electrode 15 of the image section by means of vibration damping strips 24 held between the rim 18 of electrode 15 and lugs 23 on the annular member 20 of a mount 19 for the target assembly. Vibration damping strips 24<SP>1</SP> are also provided between rim 18 and the shoulder 21 of annular member 20. The damping strips are provided at three equally circumferentally spaced points on each side around the rim 18 and with those on opposite sides relatively displaced. Alternatively, the damping strips may be annular. The damping strips may consist of steel wool or metal braid or of glass or quartz. In addition metallic strips may be provided to resist lateral or rotational movement.
