Abstract
1,114,914. Accumulators. TUDOR A.B. 20 Sept., 1966 [28 Dec., 1965], No. 41942/66. Heading H1B. The terminal part of an accumulator carries radial ridges in which threads are cut by a selftapping nut which seals the cover of the battery to a shoulder on the post, the nut being of a material harder than that of the post. If the nut is provided with grooves corresponding to the ridges on the post it can be slipped on to the post, and locked and sealed with only a short twisting movement. The nut may be made of a plastics material and may be coloured to identify the terminal. In the preferred embodiment a sealing ring is placed between the shoulder and the cover and the assembly is capped with a lead cap soldered, welded or fused to the post to form the terminal.
