Abstract

1,114,588. Preheating and charging cement raw materials. WESTFALIA DINNENDAHL GROPPEL A.G. 22 Dec., 1966, No. 57514/66. Heading F4B. Apparatus for preheating cement raw materials being charged into a rotary kiln 1 comprises a series of superposed units through which hot gases from the kiln are drawn vertically by fan 2, each unit including an expansion chamber 5 rectangular in plan with a hopper base 8, a gas inlet 6 and outlet 7 on opposite sides and a material inlet 9 in the roof of the chamber controlled by valve 10. The first unit comprises one or more cyclone separators 4, raw material being introduced through feed-pipe 3. Alternate chambers 5 are turned through 180 degrees so that the outlet 7 of the lower chamber connects directly with inlet 6 of the next chamber. The base of wider chambers may include several hoppers 8.
