Curtain liquid pouring apparatus has a pouring chamber casing in two parts 1'. 1", one part being hinged to the other at 2 to provide access to the interior thereof, a pouring slit 29 at the lower end of the pouring chamber for pouring a curtain of liquid therefrom. a connecting chamber 21 above the pouring chamber for receiving liquid therefrom. a ventilating valve 26 for sealing a ventilating passage from the connecting chamber 21 and means 8, 9, 10 for passing a sufficient flow of liquid to the pouring chamber other than through the connecting chamber to maintain a curtain of liquid flowing from the pouring slit whilst the ventilating valve 26 is closed. The arrangement. is such that in use. liquid in the pouring chamber is under slight vacuum by creating a vacuum in chamber 21 by adjustment of the delivery from reservoir 6 with the ventilating valve 26 closed. The width of slot 29 is adjustable by eccentric device 30.
