Abstract

A double-glazed framing comprises a metal or plastics spacing frame 1 to which the glass or plastics panes 3, 31 are affixed laterally by at least one elastic and/or plastic cementing compound such as an elastic cementing compound 5 of alkylene polysulphide with additives or a silicon compound with additives or an epoxy resin with additives, or a sealing compound 6 such as polyisobutylene with additives, each fixing face 2 having at least a peripheral lip 4 projecting and tapering towards the pane 3 to form a line contact partially or wholly with the pane, the sealing compound 6 being located behind and around the tip of the lip 4. The lip may also be on the outer face of the pane and <PICT:1113493/C1/1> tapered sealing ribs may be provided between the lip and the edge of the pane (Fig. 2) and formed on an extension of the base 1 which is turned up at right angles to enclose the edge of the pane and the sealing compound. The sealing compound may be introduced as a strip into a longitudinally extending groove 7 and pressed on mounting the pane to spread and fill the space between the fixing face 2 which may be roughened and the pane and spread around the tip of the lip 4. The extension of the base 1 slightly rises to form with the edge of the pane an outwardly tapering space for the cement layer 5.
