Abstract

1,113,242. Valves. JOHN WEBB & CO. Ltd. 19 Nov., 1964 [19 Aug., 1963], No. 32663/63. Heading F2V. The closure member 14 of a flow control valve is carried at the end of a spindle 13 having a threaded connection with a nut member 11 screwed to the housing 10. At its other end the spindle carries an adaptor 20 having splines which coast with splines 21a in an operating knob 21. The knob is provided with a stop 21b which coacts with a stop 17e provided on a cup-shaped member 17 having a splined connection at 11a with nut member 11, a spring 18 serving to maintain this latter connection. By raising member 17 against the spring to disengage stops 17e and 21b it may be rotated anticlockwise and released to vary the maximum open position of the valve. In order that member 17 may not be positioned such that it will prevent closure of the valve, a further stop 17d is provided to coact with a stop 11c on the nut member, i.e. in the closed position of Fig. 2 the member 17 cannot be adjusted such that stop 17e occupies the space there occupied by stop 21b.
