Abstract

In a multineedle tufting machine a patterned fabric is produced by feeding two different coloured yarns at a constant and a varying rate respectively through the needles. Thus two loops of different height are formed in each hole, and their colours alternate in predominence. The thread forming the loops of varying size is fed to the eye of the needle from the direction in which the backing travels and is released by the looper before the other thread. Needles carrying two threads may alternate with needles carrying one thread.
