Abstract

1,111,658. Feeding webs. MOLINS ORGANISATION Ltd., and M. A. PYM. 2 Dec., 1964 [2 Dec., 1963], No. 47468/63. Heading B6B. A supply reel 10 of paper strip, tape, or the like 11 is carried on a cylindrical part 8 of a carrier member having a hub 9 engaging a cylindrical block 3 eccentrically pivoted on a pin 2 fixed to a base 1, the inner surface of the part 8 engaging a brake block 6 fixed to the base 1 with a force depending on the weight of the reel, its carrier and block 3 so that the variation in tension of the strip as it is drawn off is restricted. A pin 4 carried by the block 3 rests upon a spring 5 adjustable by a screw 5a so as to support part of the weight of the reel &c. Two brake-blocks 6 may be provided, one of which is resiliently supported so as to be engaged by the cylinder 8 when the latter is lightly loaded and to be displaced by the cylinder 8 when the latter is sufficiently loaded so that the cylinder contacts the second block. The base 1 may be slidably mounted on rails for replacement of an exhausted reel by a full reel.
