907,420. Internal shoe - drum brakes. DEUTSCHE PERROT-BREMSE G.m.b.H. April 20, 1961 [April 20, 1960], No. 14342/61. Class 103 (1). An adjuster for internal shoe-drum brakes comprises an elongated nut 9 threadedly engaging pins 12, 13 having threads of opposite hand, the ends of the pins being grooved to receive the shoes, and sleeves 17, 21 slidable in guide rings 14, 15 in a casing 1, each sleeve being axially slidable on the nut, the sleeve 17 being non-rotatably mounted on the nut and having teeth 18 on its enlarged inner end which engage a crown wheel 27 on an adjusting spindle 25. A spring 22 maintains the sleeves in engagement with circlips 23, 24 on the nut when the brake is released so that the enlarged inner ends of the two sleeves engage the rings 14, 15 to maintain the nut central with respect to the casing 1. When the brake is applied, one or the other of the sleeves moves inwardly to centre the shoes in the brake drum. The non- rotatable mounting of the sleeve 17 on the nut 9 is effected by a depressed portion 19 of the sleeve engaging a groove 20 in the nut. The casing 1 is adjustably secured to a back plate or brake support by a slotted guide plate 3 on which it is secured by a screw 6 which is hollow to receive the spindle 25.
