Abstract

1,111,501. Ring-spinning apparatus. M. GILLONO and P. ALBERTO. 30 July, 1965 [18 Aug., 1964 (2)], No. 32816/65. Heading D1D. In ring-spinning apparatus, compressed fluid is directed circumferentially around the spindle to assist movement of the traveller, means being provided for controlling the velocity of the fluid. The arrangement aims to reduce the occurence of breaks in the yarn arising from the sticking of the traveller on the ring as a result of the direction in which the yarn is pulled when winding is taking place on those parts of the package which have small diameters. As shown, a channel formed by a guide 6 enveloping the ring over part of its circumference is supplied with compressed air from a jet 9. The air, which may carry a lubricant for the traveller or materials for treating the yarn, may act directly on the traveller, or on a member driving the traveller by contact or magnetically. The supply of air can be varied during the wind, the nozzle accordingly may be adjustable or a regulator may be provided in the line supplying the nozzle the guide may be disposed substantially outside or inside the ring or below it, in all cases part at least of the traveller will lie within the channel formed between the ring and the guide. There may be more than one jet or inlet for the fluid; a second channel exterior of the first may be filled with compressed air which can be directed into the first channel.
