Abstract

1,111,280. Vehicle steering linkages. TRW Inc. 10 Feb., 1967, No. 6625/67. Heading B7H. [Also in Division E2] A parallelogram automobile steering linkage comprises a cross link 11 pivotally connected at one end to a pitman arm 12, and at the other to an idler arm 13, by pin joints having consistent turning torque with a high resistance to angular deflection (see Division E2). The pitman arm is pivotably suspended at 14 from the steering gear of the vehicle, and the idler arm is pivoted at 15 to a fixed bracket B. Tie rods 16 are connected to the link 11 through ball and socket joints 17, and similarly connected at 20 to the steering arms 18 of the vehicle wheel 19.
