763,701. Steering vehicles. KASSBOHRER FAHRZEUGWERKE GES., K. June 24, 1954, No. 1734/56. Divided out of 749,740 [Group XXXII]. Classes 79(3) and 79(5). In an articulated vehicle comprising tractor and trailer units 1, 2 connected by a coupling 3, 4 permitting relative vertical and horizontal movements, wheels 5 on the trailer are steered in dependence on relative turning movements between the units 1, 2 through linkage comprising a swing arm 21 on the tractor connected by a universal joint 23 to one end of a lever 19 having its other end connected to an angular transmission mechanism element 12 pivotally mounted about a vertical axis 18 on the trailer, the other transmission element 15 being mounted on a shaft 17 longitudinally arranged on the trailer for steerably deflecting the trailer wheels 5. As shown, the trailer wheels are steerably deflected by rotation of the shaft 17 carrying arms 16 connected by track rods 24 to steering arms 8, 9, and the angular transmission mechanism comprises the elements 12, 15 interconnected by ropes 13, 14.
