Abstract

1,111,189. Infuser packages. JOHNSON & JOHNSON. 25 Nov., 1966, No. 52944/66. Heading B8C. [Also in Division D1] In order to produce an efficient heat-seal, the non-woven fabric, from which an infusion bag is produced, contains from 150-250 grams/yd.<SP>2</SP> of individual non-thermoplastic fibres and at least 6% by weight of individual thermoplastic fibres which occupy from 12-25% of the surface area in the heat-sealable face of the fabric. The thermoplastic fibres undergo fusion between 250‹ and 350‹ F. Bags produced from this fabric can expand up to 50% overall when placed in boiling water. Strips of this fabric are folded longitudinally and cut transversely to form separate pockets which are then filled with the infusable substance and sealed.
