A crop lifting device for a root. crop harvester e.g. similar to that of Specification 1,110,973 comprises a pair of wheels 1 having roller bearing hubs 3 releasably clamped on a common shaft 4 or on coaxial stub shafts, the axis of the bore of each hub being at an angle to the axis of the respective wheel. The relative positions of the wheels can be varied by moving the hubs axially and by rotating the shaft(s) or the hubs relative thereto when the shaft(s) have square or circular crosssectiqn(s) respectively. The lifted crops are conveyed upwardly and rearwardly by mechanism including a chain 8 which forms the subject matter of Specification 1,110,974.
