Abstract

1,126,454. Beet harvesters. C. J. STEKETEE. 20 Jan., 1967 [11 Feb., 1966], No. 3017/67. Heading A1F. A beet harvester comprises at least one pair of downwardly inclined discs 1 supporting blade-shaped lifting elements 2 and being secured to a holder 7, the hubs 4 of the discs being connected with a common driven shaft 3 through connecting means adapted to pivot or flex in longitudinal direction of the shaft but being rigid in circumferential direction. As shown the connecting means comprises a block 9 on shaft 3 surrounded by a cardan ring 11 the perpendicular sets of pins 12, 14 of which are journalled in sleeves 13, 15 on the hub 4 and block 9 respectively. In a modification the connecting means comprises a block mounted on a shaft 3 and having a rounded circumference provided with grooves each accommodating a ball which also engages in a corresponding groove at the inner surface of the hub. A disc of rubber or like material secured to the hub and shaft may also provide the connecting means.
