Abstract

1,110,699. Garment waistbands. GOTTLIEB BINDER KOMM.-GES. 17 March, 1966 [17 March, 1965], No. 11694/66. Heading A3V. [Also in Division E2] An adjustable garment waist band, for e.g. a pair of trousers 12, comprises a base band 1 which is sewn to the garment edge to form a tunnel therewith and having a slot 3 from which projects one end of connecting band 6 the other end of which lies within the tunnel and is attached to the garment 12 at a seam 16A. To adjust the waist band the connecting band 6 is pulled from the slot 3 and attached to the base band 1 by means of complementary filamentary hooks and loops on the band 6 and on a narrow strip 11 attached to the band 1. The narrow strip 11 may be provided only on the part 5 of the band 1 between the slot 3 and the band end and the lengths required for waist bands are cut from rolls of the composite band. The band 1 is attached to the garment by sewing along a seam 13, folding in the direction (14) (Fig 3, not shown) and then sewing along a seam 16.
