Abstract

A garment (e.g. trousers, skirt) waistband, comprising an elastic tape located loosely in a fabric sheath, is positioned on a face of the garment and adjacent edges of the garment and waistband stitched together with elasticated (pref. zig-zag) stitching. The waistband is then folder away from the face of the garment so that if forms an extension of the edge of the garment and so that the edge of the garment is folder over and hides the line of elasticated stitching. Pref. the sheath is of the same fabric as the garment (e.g. jersey knit). The line of stitching is completely invisible thereby providing a better quality garment.
