Abstract

A loop transfer device for a hand knitting machine, has transfer elements comprising a U shaped body with a projecting tongue. Loop transfer, laterally or transversely, is effected by inserting the tongues between the needle bed and the backs of the needles and through the loops. The top of the tongues are recessed to assist such insertion. The needles cast off the loops onto the elements whereafter the device is placed over the needles to which transfer is to be made, and the needles advanced through the loops. The cam for advancing and retracting the needles may be of synthetic material.
