Abstract

The needles on a flat or circular knitting machine are positioned in small U-shaped channels which are movable up and down by a separate cam under the stitch cam. This has the effect of shortening and lengthening the stitch length. They are adjustable in relation to the stationary part of the needle bed. These channels have butts on the bottom, and are engaged by the special cam.
