Abstract
1,110,430. Idler roller assemblies for endless belt conveyers. MINING ENGINEERING CO. (MECO) Ltd. 2 Feb., 1967 [16 Feb., 1966], No. 5482/67. Divided out of 1,110,049. Heading B8A. A troughed idler roller assembly for supporting the loaded run of an endless conveyer belt is supported between parallel stringers 22 by saddles 21 adapted to fit over and be bolted to stringers 22. The flattened end 29 of a bar 31, slidably supporting against spring pressure, the outer roller of the roller assembly, is pivotably mounted between lugs 26 on the saddle 21. The pivot axis of the end 29 in the lugs may be either parallel to the stringer 22 or at an angle thereto. Adjustment of the bar 31 longitudinally of the stringer is provided for by an elongated bolt hole in the saddle top or by more than two lugs 26 offering alternative slots for end 29. The latter may be offset from the axis of the arm 31 whereby rotation of the arm through 180 degrees may alter the position of the arm by twice the offset. The saddle may comprise either a bent metal plate to which the lugs are welded, or a casting having integral lugs.
