Abstract

1,180,133. Endless conveyers. REDLER CONVEYORS Ltd. 24 May, 1968 [7 Aug., 1967], No. 36232/67. Heading B8A. A conveying element for conveyers includes a pair of chain links 1, 2, pivotally connected together by a joint pin 6, and an associated flight member 9, one link having a bifurcated socket portion 4 and the other link an interfitting head portion 3, the flight member having a pair of spaced lugs 10, 10, which when the parts are assembled together lie on opposite sides of the socket portion 4, the joint pin 6 having one or more radially projecting keys 7 or projections, the socket and head portions and lugs being formed with " key-hole " shaped apertures 8, 8a, for the entry of the joint pin when the links are articulated into a position relative to each other which they do not occupy in use, the joint pin being prevented from endwise movement as a result of misalignment of the keyways of the " key-hole " shaped apertures 8, 8a, when the links are articulated into a position which they normally occupy when in use. The pin 6 may have two keys 7, as shown, which are spaced so as to engage the apertures 8a, Sa, in the opposite sides of the socket portion 4. Otherwise there may be a single key 7 adapted to engage the single aperture 8 in the portion 3. The flight member 9 is constrained to a desired attitude relative to the chain by a chainengaging plate 12 welded between the lugs 10, 10. The chain links have to be inclined to each other at an angle of 96 degrees in order to bring the apertures 8 and 8a into alignment. In its passage over the return sprockets at each end of the conveyer in normal operation the maximum angle of inclination between the links is 60 degrees.
