Abstract
<PICT:1109316/C6-C7/1> In the vapour deposition of cadmium on a steel surface 23, the surface, which is made a cathode, is simultaneously cleaned by a glow discharge in an argon atmosphere. The cadmium is evaporated from a source 17, and when evaporation is seen to begin, the argon is pumped out, while the vapour deposition continues.
