Abstract

1,109,135. Metal vapour lamps. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. 13 July, 1965 [16 July, 1964], No. 29655/65. Heading H1D. A super high pressure mercury vapour discharge lamp includes a rare gas, at least one of the elements tin, germanium, arsenic, antimony, and manganese, and a quantity of iodine which is at least equal to half the sum of the chemical equivalents of the latter metals, and at most equal to the sum of the chemical equivalents of those metals and mercury, and the quantity of mercury is 0.03 to 0-15 mgm. per cubic millimetre. The filling may additionally include thallium, indium, sodium, zinc, or cadmium. Preferred ratio ranges of the constituents are given. The rare gas may be argon, and the envelope a quartz capillary tube cooled by flowing air or water.
