Abstract

1,107,817. Knitting-machines. L. H. COLTON. 23 Feb., 1967 [3 March, 1966], No. 9282/66. Heading D1C, A tricked needle cylinder has at its top a ring 9, having a surface 9b preferably curved, that is harder and more wear resistant than the cylinder and lifts the back of the needles from the bottom of the tricks at the upper end. The ring, which may be of plastics or metal, may be coated with wear-resistant material. The needles are additionally guided by tricks 8a in the sinker guide ring. In a modification the ring is integral with the sinker guide ring and built up by plating or the like. The ring is extended in depth to provide narrow tricks for the needles, their jacks being guided in wider tricks in the cylinder. The needles are wider in a radial direction immediately above the butts, to provide extra rigidity.
