Abstract

1,107,420. Single balanced modulation. STANDARD TELEPHONES CABLES Ltd. 26 May, 1967, No. 24574/67. Addition to 1,005,340. Heading H3R. A single balanced modulator for feeding a balanced load comprises a long-tailed pair 3, 4 which splits the phase of a modulating signal applied to input terminals 1 and 2, the collectors of the transistors being connected to output terminals 7 and 8 through switching transistors 9 and 10 which are switched on and off simultaneously by a carrier signal applied at terminals 13 and 14. In a modification. Fig. 3 (not shown), the switching transistors 9 and 10 are replaced by a single transistor (9) connected across the collectors of the long-tailed pair; this transistor is preferably of the symmetrical type.
