Abstract

1,214,117. Modulation; amplifiers. COMPAGNIE FRANCAISE THOMSON HOUSTON - HOTCHKISS BRANDT. 18 July, 1969 [19 July, 1968], No. 36399/69. Headings H3R and H3T. A signal S(t) applied to an input electrode of a transistor T produces an output signal P(t) which is either in antiphase or in phase with the input signal, depending on whether a control signal I(t) biases the transistor to function as an amplifier or to saturate. If S(t) is a carrier and I(t) a digital data signal the circuit functions as a phase shift modulator. If I(t) is a carrier and S(t) an information signal the circuit functions as an amplitude modulator in a similar manner to a ring modulator.
