Abstract
773,435. Modulating systems. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. June 6, 1955 [June 9, 1954], No. 16168/55. Class 40(5) A push pull modulator comprises two transistors of npn and two of pnp type connected as shown to form effectively two transistors of the four zone type, carrier p being supplied to the emitter electrodes e of amplitude such that collector current output at c reaches saturation and modulation q being applied to the collector electrodes c of the four zone transistors of small amplitude such that the collector carrier frequency currents vary linearly with the modulation. Capacitors 5, 6 or a potentiometer 7 provide adjustment so that bias voltage sources are unnecessary. The transistors 3, 4 may be interchanged provided an input transformer is used. The modulation q may be applied in phase provided a special output transformer is used.
