Abstract

1,106,499. Container closures. R. BIHLER. 6 July, 1965 [23 July, 1964; 7 Dec., 1964; 4 June, 1965], No. 28699/65. Heading B8T. A collapsible tube is closed by a disc or spider 3 having a ring of apertures 4 and being bonded to the end of the tube, the disc carrying a member 5 which normally closes an aperture in a resilient cap 7 secured to the wall of the tube. Pressure on the tube wall causes the cap 7 to flex outwardly, thereby dispensing the tube contents. The cap 7 may be of resilient metal crimped on to the end of the tube, or it may be of PVC and secured lower on the tube end if the tube contains liquid, Fig. 2 (not shown). The upper surface of the cap may be of bellows construction, Fig. 3 (not shown). Either the opening in the cap or the outer surface of the upper end of the member 5 may be of frusto-conical form, Figs. 4 and 7 respectively (not shown). The cap 7 may be a force-fit in the end of the tube, Fig. 6 (not shown). The disc 3 may be replaced by a member 3b, Fig. 9 (not shown), which may be screwed to the nozzle of a collapsible tube and carries openings in its upper end which are normally closed by a resilient cap. The cap which is bonded or heat sealed to the member 3b is apertured in the same way as the cap 7. Again, the disc 3 may be formed integrally with the tube, Fig. 10 (not shown), and form a frusto-conical end to the tube.
