Abstract
1,106,307. Testing under fluid-pressure. WERNER & PFLEIDERER. Sept. 1 1966 [Sept. 30, 1965], No. 39072/66. Heading G1S. A hollow body, such as a valve housing 5, to be tested under pressure has its ends 5', 5" closed by plates and is placed on a holder 4 resting on a lifting piston 2 which is raised, by liquid under pressure supplied from a pump through pipes 26, 28, 24 and a non-return valve 27 to a chamber IV, to move the housing 5 against a packing ring 9 provided in the lower end of a piston 8 which is displaced upwardly into a chamber I to displace liquid therein through passages 14', 14 into a further pressure chamber 13 to move a piston 11 downwards into the valve housing 5 to subject the valve housing 5 to pressure which is indicated on a gauge 17. After the test a two-way valve 29 is actuated via a relay 31 and valve 30 to relieve pressure in chamber IV to lower the valve housing 5.
