Abstract
1,106,093. Chromatography system. CESKOSLOVENSKA AKADEMIE VED. 1 April, 1965 [13 April, 1964], No. 13840/65. Heading B1X. An apparatus for chromatographic separation of mixtures for example mixtures of amino acids comprises a single pump (7 or P) to the inlet of which is connected a multiple way valve (8) having at least three inlets connected to at least two reservoirs (11-13) for eluting solutions and a reservoir (14) for regenerating solution and to the outlet of which is connected one or more columns (1, 2 or V, M), and at least two sample solution reservoirs (9 or 15) which may be connected upstream or downstream of the pump. The passages between the sample reservoirs and the columns are of capillary type. Where more than one column is employed, a valve (6), having a corresponding number of flow passages is used: a single column is directly connected (Fig. 7, not shown). The multiple-way valve may be replaced by at least two two-way valves interconnected by a common conduit (Fig. 3, not shown). The numerals refer to Figs. 1 and 4 (Fig. 4 omits integers upstream of the pump) in which the sample reservoirs are respectively open and pressurised. In each case, a second multiway valve 10 is provided for the reservoirs, and by suitably synchronising the rotation of valves 8, 10 and two-way valve 6, automatic separations of the various samples in sequence in predetermined columns with an elution, separation, elution regeneration cycle for each, may be effected. Other arrangements are described and illustrated.
