Abstract
1,104,072. Clocks and watches. SMITHS INDUSTRIES Ltd. June 11, 1965 [June 12, 1964), No. 24416/64. Heading G3T. A timepiece is of the kind wherein a balance, carrying a coil which co-operates with a stationary magnet, is impulsed through a transistor circuit. The balance comprises a flat balance member 5 as shown and a flat coil 8a, 8b, Figs. 1, 3 and 4 (not shown), both disposed in the same plane. The coil is secured between two plates 6, 7 which are attached to opposite sides of the balance member. This member and the two plates 6, 7 form separately conducting parts to which hair springs 18, 19, 26 are attached and whereby the ends of the coil and a tapping thereof are connected with the stationary transistor 40. The member 5 is divided to avoid eddy currents and carries poising weights 32 to 35. The plates are bonded to member 5 and to the coil by insulating material.
