A balance member 4 for a clock is mounted to oscillate on a wire 6, and a balance spring 3 is secured at one end to a stud 2 fixed to a part 10 of the clock chassis, and at the other end to an apertured stud 1 which is secured to the balance staff 4a by a heat setting adhesive or other settable material 5 solidified in the space between the staff 4a and the wall of the aperture 1a in the stud 1.
