A repeating alarm clock includes means for adjusting the interval between ringing signals within a range from 0 to 3 hours. The spring barrel 4 drives a wheel 13, Fig. 1 (not shown) which is frictionally coupled to a disc 14 bearing a scale marked from 0 to 24 hours. The wheel and disc are frictionally mounted on a sleeve 26 carrying a pointer 27, the sleeve in turn being frictionally mounted on a shaft 21, 24 bearing a second pointer 28. This shaft is fast with a cam 29 which frictionally engages an alarm winding wheel 31 coupled through a spring disc and ratchet 33, 34 with the wheel 13. The alarm spring 41 is wound through a release wheel 46 from the wheel 31. The two pointers may be set in coincidence to give but one alarm signal, by rotating shaft 21, 24 anti-clockwise until the cam 29 meets a stop 37 on wheel 31. The wheel 46 is then released when the pointers, rotating along with the disc 14, reach a stationary mark (20) Fig. 5 (not shown). This corresponds with the moment when a last tooth 49 on wheel 31 disengages the release wheel 46. The rundown of the alarm spring corresponds to one revolution of this release wheel. After a period the release wheel is re-engaged by a first tooth 50 of the wheel 31 to re-wind the alarm spring. By adjustment of the cam 29 toward a second stop 37a on wheel 31, the pointers may be spaced up to three hours apart. In this case, on release of the wheel 46 when the leading pointer reaches mark 20, the release wheel 46 can make only half a revolution, i. e. until a stop 48 thereon engages the cam surface 51 on cam 29. This cam surface releases the stop 48 when the lagging pointer reaches mark 20 and a second alarm signal is given during the remaining rundown of the alarm spring. The alarm includes disabling means 53.
