Abstract
1,103,655. Beater mills. J. NARA. 22 March, 1965, No. 12119/65. Heading B2A. [Also in Division F4] A combined beater mill and drier comprises a cylindrical container 1 to which powder to be dried is supplied through a pipe 2 to pass in countercurrent to an upward hot air flow introduced at the lower end of the container, while simultaneously being crushed by fire rods 8 radially mounted on discs 7 attached to a central rotary shaft 6. The hot, moisture laden air is exhausted to atmosphere via a cyclone separator 10 from which the fires pass either to the container or to a collecting point (not shown) through pipes 12, 12' respectively and the dried crushed powder exits at an opening 5. Vertical, fixed wing plates 9 are mounted on the container wall to guide the hot air current.
