Abstract

A bulk material hopper 11, Fig. 4, of substantially circular crosssection has a plurality of gas inlets 7 disposed around the wall of the tapering discharge zone 3 on a line which is helical and directing a stream of gas along the wall. In a modification, the pipe end may finish flush with the interior of the wall. In another modification a pipe 23, Fig. 5, of triangular cross-section is provided on the inside of the container and has a plurality of outlets 25 at right angles to the wall.
