Abstract

110,276. Giroux, C. I. Feb. 23, 1917. Nuts; locking nuts.-The bolt is provided with a reduced end having a left-hand thread to receive the lock-nut. The upper face of the main nut is serrated, as shown at 5 in Fig. 3 for instance, and the lower face of the lock-nut is similarly serrated. The lock-nut is recessed at 7 as shomn in Fig. 5, and the walls of the recess are slit so that when the lock-nut is screwed up its lower end is expanded and the nut jammed on the bolt. The lock-nut may be screwed up by a wrench or by hand by means of the pins 11, Fig. 5.
